When uploading a project to Caplena, all columns you do not select to be processed as text, will be treated as additional columns and uploaded to the platform nevertheless.
This data could be metadata of the respondent (age, gender, customer segment, country, etc.), an ID column for later identification in the export, or responses to closed-questions such as a likelihood to recommend question (NPS score).
To benefit most from Caplena, we recommend adding as many relevant additional columns as possible.
Leveraging additional columns in the visualizations (charts)
If your project contains additional columns, Caplena tries to identify relevant splits based on the data type of the individual columns. It will suggest these segmentation Templates when you create a new chart.
Changing additional columns
If you would like to replace the additional columns, for example because you want to add further columns, you can do so in the Manage Projects view. Select the project you'd like to change and click the scissors icon ("Replace additional columns...").
Note that you will need to have the rows in the exactly same order as in the file you initially uploaded. Also be careful not to re-upload the text columns, otherwise you'll end up with additional open-end columns in your project.
When exporting an entire project or a specific question we'll add all additional columns you uploaded to the export. This ensures that you can for example identify a response by ID for later use in your analysis pipeline.
You can exclude additional columns from the export in the Advanced options in the export dialog.
The coding view allows displaying one of the additional data columns next to the text. This can be helpful if you would like to see the NPS score along with the response, for example. You can select the additional column to display in the "View Options" (tile icon on top left of text).
